Proxy Hubs / Networks

For those of you who are new to proxies, and those of you who are not may also learn something here. Once you find a working proxy which you like to use (And this means, fast, ad free? high download limit, always online, etc) you should look around the main pages on it to try and see if it is part of a proxy network.

Sadly this is sometimes harder done than said due to the way the majority of these proxies get their traffic, and that is through links on other websites which inturn require a link back to their website.

If you can dig through the clutter of unnecessary links you may be able to find one or two links which lead you to another of the owners (of the current proxy) website which may list more of his proxies.

Good proxies can be hard to come by, and therefor i suggest once you find a proxy that meets Your personal needs then try and hunt down more of them from the same guy.

The life of a web based proxy

The typical life span of common web proxy is very short.

The problem is that the filtering companies such as websense and lightspeed get paid to basically block them. This is a really big problem for both users of these services and the owners of the services. For the users it means the task of finding new proxies is endless. For webmasters, it is also a endless task of trying to push out new proxies and trying to let the users know how to find it.

When the average proxy webmaster factors this into their business plan they tend to pack the web based proxy out with alot of ads, including but not limited to popup ads, inpage popups and banners on the proxifed pages. When they notice the earnings are not what they had originally hoped for they tend to either sell their proxy, and the new owner places even more ads onto it. Or else they just shut it down.

This is a problem because the few users that might have found that proxy useful now have to try and locate another one.

One solution we have created is the following image which you can view on your mobile phone using GSM dail up or GPRS, 3g or even HSDA. The image can be found here proxy list image. Using this image you can get the newest proxies with out having to worry about where from, this image will remain unblocked as long as you view it from your mobile phone!

The image is typically very small, on average around 4kb. This means that even if you have to pay for your mobile data transfer it should cost you next to nothing (Think one digit cents)

Web Based Proxies and Christmas

Web based proxies are useful all year round. But they are even more valuable at this time of year than ever. Why is this?

I know most schools and colleges and some universitys start to die down for the festive perioid and this means that students tend to have more free time than before!

What does this mean? It means more time to sit around and surf the internet!

Sadly though, you still have a problem. Websense! Lightspeed! etc! In summary, web filtering companies! As a student these companies should be your arch enemy. Their sole job is to stop you looking at what you want to see online. Fancy checking out what people are up to on myspace? Yes you do, a bit like most students (Ok it may be facebook or ubranchat twitter urbangardens datingservicepro etc) but you will probably find if you are in any decent sized school that they pay alot of money to filter these websites out.

Blocked by Websense This is a depressing image that alot of people will know:

To bypass this blocked by Websense page you need to use a gateway page, A gateway page is a website which acts on your behalf and requests other websites for you.

In a normal networking environment your requests to view a webpage will look like the following:
Your Computer -> ISP -> Web Site

In most typical college network setups it looks like the following
Your Computer -> WebSense server -> Block page

Using a web based proxy you can bypass this block page just because websense has not categorized the proxy yet, in this setup the traffic will look a bit like this:
Your Computer -> WebSense Server -> Web Based Proxy -> Your Page

Success!
